Chennai Rains: Is help on your mind?

In the last few days, we have witnessed nature’s fury in the city of Chennai. There has been incessant rain crippling the entire infrastructure and putting the residents to great risk.

In certain areas, people have run out of their day-to-day stuff and are looking forward to something as basic as food.

The pictures of the devastation caused by Chennai rains are everywhere to see. I am sure you have seen them too.

Thankfully humanity is still alive. People and organisations have rallied to provide any and every help that is possible including money, food, shelter and transportation.

If help is on you mind too and you would like to do you bit, here is how you can.

If you are a part of the city, there are ways to help locally with food, clothing and shelter. Voluntary organisations such as Women of Worth, Rapid Relief and RSS are enabling you to contribute in everyway possible.

If you away from the city, you can send help in cash or kind.

Here’a link of resources on Huffington Post India.

Yet another link on Buzzfeed with a list of resources.

Several organisations like Isha Foundation and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) are also doing their bit, selflessly.

Here is Isha Foundation’s page, in case you wish to contribute through them. You can donate in kind or a bank transfer.

And here is the RSS link.

The above are few of the many ways you can help. If you of know something else that can be done, please mention it in the comments or share any appropriate links.

Finally…if there is nothing else possible for you to do, one thing definitely is.

A prayer for the people!

At this hour, let’s restore the faith in humanity. Let’s help and pray for our countrymen and fellow citizens.

  1. It’s touching that you write this. I don’t know if it’s a result of reading this, but I donated. (Long back, I’m just leaving the comment now)
